Once you have made the generous decision to support mission aviation, Missionaire will take care of all of the details including transporting the airplane, transferring paperwork, and ensuring that you receive the best possible value for your donated aircraft. While Missionaire is not allowed to assess a financial value to your aircraft, you can rest assured that Missionaire will not “dump” your aircraft and jeopardize your potential tax credits. As a tax deductible 501c3 nonprofit organization, one-hundred percent (100%) of all Missionaire proceeds are invested back in to mission aviation training and support.
What happens to my airplane once donated?
First, all aircraft must be appraised as a part of the donation process. It is the responsibility of the owner to provide an appraisal so that the maximum value can be claimed in the deduction. This appraisal will be included in all of the paperwork required by the IRS for tax deductions. Missionaire will help with every step of the process and work to make this a painless process.
Next, your aircraft will be assessed to see if it can be utilized in local training or overseas mission use. While all aircraft are valuable to our mission, only certain types of planes can practically be utilized for long term missions.
Missionaire will also do it’s very best to ensure that all aircraft donated will be used to the best of its ability to help others. Sometimes this means repairing and reselling airplanes to other like minded aviators. Rest assured that Missionaire will not do anything to reduce the maximum value of your tax deductible donation as allotted by the IRS. We do not “quick flip” or “short sell” airplanes. Our goal is to partner with you and your generosity to make a real difference and help others soar!
